Panthers Close Regular Season With Arizona State, Iowa State

Two top-15 duals await the Panthers when they head to Ames to face No. 11 Arizona State at 1:30 p.m. and No. 13 Iowa State at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Ames. The Panthers are coming off of a 27-9 win over Northern Illinois in last week's dual in Dekalb. Brody Teske and Kyle Biscoglia earned pins to lead the way for the Panthers.Â

• The NCWA Individual rankings were released, Thursday. Seven Panther wrestlers were ranked. Parker Keckeisen leads the way at fifth, Carter Isley is ranked sixth, Brody Teske is ranked ninth. Kyle Biscoglia comes in at 11th and Lance Runyon (20th), Patrick Schoenfelder (29th) and Keegan Moore (30th) are all in the top-30 for UNI.Â

• Keegan Moore moved into the rankings in the Track Wrestling rankings and the Open Mat Rankings. With Moore in the poll, seven wrestlers are ranked in various polls. Isley, Teske, Biscoglia and Keckeisen are ranked in every major poll.Â

• Sun Devil wrestlers Brandon Courtney (125) , Michael McGee (133), Anthony Valencia (165) , Kordell Norfleet (197) and Cohlton Schultz (HWT) remain undefeated. Norfleet and Courtney are both ranked No. 3 in their respective weight classes with Valencia and McGee rounding out in the top-10 for their weight.
• Eight Iowa State Wrestlers are ranked. David Carr (157) leads the way at No. 3. Ian Parker (141), Jarrett Degen (149), Sam Colbray (184) and Gannon Gremmel (285) are all ranked in the top-10. The matches at 184 and 285 will be between Top-10 wrestlers.  Â

• Brody Teske, Carter Isley and Parker Keckeisen are all undefeated on the year so far. Teske and Keckeisen are all 7-0 on the season while Isley is 6-0 on the year. Keckeisen has just two dual bouts on the season. Teske is 6-0 in duals and Isley is 5-0 in duals. All three wrestlers have wins over ranked opponents.Â

• Northern Colorado was scheduled to participate in this dual but pulled out because of COVID-19 protocols.Â

•Three wrestlers on the roster have qualified for nationals, but only transfer Keegan Moore has wrestled in the NCAA Championships. Jack Skudlarczyk and Carter Isley both qualified for the 2020 NCAA Championships before it was canceled.Â

• Four wrestlers from Fort Dodge High School started for the Panthers in five duals. Brody Teske (125), Drew Bennett (141), Triston Lara (149) and Cayd Lara (157) are all in the lineup for UNI, Cayd Lara missed the dual with Oklahoma. It is believed that it is the first time that four wrestlers from the same high school were in the same lineup since 1949 when four Waterloo West wrestlers lined up for Cornell College.
• This is the regular-season finale for the Panthers. UNI next readies for the Big 12 Championship in Tulsa on March 6-7.
