Panther women's basketball returns home for South Dakota State

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - After two weeks on the road, the UNI women's basketball team returns home to the McLeod Center with a winning record.
A milestone performance on Wednesday for the Panthers against St. Thomas helps the team bring energy and momentum into a two-game home stand. The first of the two games will take place on Saturday, December 4th against South Dakota State for the team's second Summit League foe in as many games. Tipoff on Saturday is set for 2 p.m. at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls.
THE PANTHERS:Â
-Â The Panthers had their best offensive output in almost 30 years against St. Thomas Wednesday night. UNI's 102 points was the most scored since a 106 point OT loss to Drake in 1993 and the most in regulation since a 107 point win in 1990 against Creighton.
- With Wednesday's offensive firestorm, the Panthers are now first in the MVC in several stat categories including assists, scoring margin, and all 3 categories for three-point field goals. \
- Senior guard Karli Rucker hit a career milestone on Wednesday night, scoring her 1,500th point with a 3-point shot in the 1st quarter against St. Thomas. Rucker now has 1,507 career points and is 5th overall on the Panthers all time scoring list. Â
- The Panthers are ranked 14th in the nation in three-point field goals per game, averaging 9.3 treys through 6 games. First in the nation in the category is in-state foe Iowa State, who the Panthers will play in just over a week's time.Â
THE JACKRABBITS:
- The Jackrabbits return to the Midwest after participating in the Gulf Coast Showcase over Thanksgiving weekend. South Dakota State went 1-1 in Estero, Florida with their 3rd and final game of the tournament canceled.Â
- Saturday's game will be the Jackrabbits 5th in a row on the road, comprising their longest road swing of the season.
- The Jackrabbits are led by freshman guard Paige Meyer. Meyer leads the team in points per game, field goals, 3-point field goals, and assists. Defensively junior forward Paiton Burckhard leads the team in rebounds and and steals.
- The Jackrabbits are 1st in the Summit League in assist to turnover ratio at 1.09 which puts them at 53rd in the nation.Â
