UNI Football Ranked Third by HERO Sports

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – National FCS site HERO Sports ranked UNI football third in its preseason poll released by the outlet Wednesday.
The Panthers return 15 starters off a team that advanced to the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs in 2019. UNI went 10-5 on the year and finished second in the MVFC standings. Defending national champions North Dakota State was picked first and MVFC foe South Dakota State was picked second.
UNI is scheduled to play four teams in the top 12 of the rankings including NDSU, SDSU, No. 6 Weber State and No. 12 Illinois State. All four will make the trip to the UNI-Dome where the Panthers are 12-1 over the last two seasons.
The UNI schedule also includes road trips to No. 22 Southern Illinois, Iowa and Idaho State.
The timeline for the return of players to offseason workouts or practices has yet to be determined because of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
