
Three Panthers Named to Hampshire Honor Society

IRVING, Texas – Three UNI football players were named to the Hampshire Honor Society by the National Football Foundation, Wednesday.
Joe Friedrich, Christian Jegen and Seth Thomas represented UNI on the list. Honorees are graduating seniors who exhausted their eligibility and maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers.
Friedrich, a four-year starter at long snapper, finished earned his degree in Marketing, Management and accounting with a 3.75 GPA. Jegen, a starting safety, earned a 3.25 GPA in Marketing Sales Management. Starting defensive end Seth Thomas tallied a 3.47 GPA with a quadruple major in Manufacturing Engineering and Technology, Metal Casting, Design and Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Management.
UNI is one of just 29 colleges and Universities to have a player honored in all 14 years of the program. Only 10 FCS schools have been honored every year.
With three Panthers on this seasons' list, 35 Panther student-athletes have now been honored in 14 years.
Former UNI honorees include former NFL player Chad Rinehart, William V. Campbell Trophy winner Josh Mahoney, Dr. Ben Boothby, Houston Texans running back David Johnson and UNI offensive coordinator Ryan Mahaffey.
