UNI Softball Goes 1-1 on Day Two of Doc Halverson UNI-Dome Classic

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - UNI softball finished 1-1 on day two of the Doc Halverson UNI-Dome Classic, beating Murray State 7-2 and falling to South Dakota State 6-1.
UNI vs. Murray State | W, 7-2
UNI scored seven runs off Murray State pitching as the Panthers claimed victory over the Racers on Saturday by the score of 7-2.
Sophomore Erica Oler (1-0) started in the circle and picked up the win for UNI (1-2). The southpaw went seven innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on seven hits, allowing four walks and striking out four.
At the plate, the Panthers were paced by senior Sammey Bunch, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a home run and two RBIs. Senior Adara Opiola compiled a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Sophomore Kamryn Shaffer also helped out for UNI, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a double.
The Panthers were trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Northern Iowa's offense started clicking and put up seven runs, including a two-run home run off the bat of Bunch and a two-run single from senior Jenny Kohl. The score remained 7-2 for the rest of the game, as the Panthers coasted to the win.
