Conway, Ark. -- The UNI Panthers went 1-1 on Day 2 of the Adam Brown Memorial Shamrock Classic.

GAME 1 | Northern Iowa 9, Belmont University 1

Sophomore Hannah Kelley (1-1) started in the circle and picked up the win for UNI (5-8). The right-hander went six innings, giving up one run on five hits, allowing one walk and striking out six.

Senior Adara Opiola led the way offensively for the Panthers, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with a triple, a home run and three RBIs. Senior Sammey Bunch provided a noteworthy effort as well, going 1-for-2 with a home run and four RBIs. Senior Ashley Chesser also helped out, going 2-for-3 for UNI with a double and an RBI.

The Panthers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring in the first inning. UNI got on the board thanks to Chesser's RBI double with two outs.

After the Bruins rallied to tie the ballgame at one, the Panthers came back to re-take the lead in the third inning. UNI scored twice on Opiola's two-run homer, which brought the Panthers lead to 3-1.

The Panthers were trailing 7-0 in the sixth inning when they first put runs on the board. UNI plated a run on a bases-loaded walk by Kohl. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
