AMES, Iowa - Darius King won the weight throw with a career-best throw of 16.12-meters and Cam Bauer had a career-best triple jump mark of 14.29 meters to pick up first-place honors at the Iowa State Classic in Ames Saturday.
The duo was one of ten other Panthers to earn top-three finishes at the event. Other Panthers moved up the rankings in the MVC Standings. Sven Van Den Bergh finished sixth in a highly competitive 400-meter dash field, but his time is the second-best time in the valley to date.
McCayla Cole finished ninth in the 5K, but her time of 17:14.26 is the second-best time in the MVC so far.
Bauer's win in the triple jump moved him to fifth in the MVC and King's weight throw moved him to third in the league, just behind teammate Kyler Yodts.
Allison Griffin moved into fifth place in the MVC in the shot put after her throw of 47.15 helped her finish fifth overall.
Isaiah Trousil and Tayshaun Cooper finished second and third respectively behind only former Panther Evan Long who ran unattached.
