Five Panthers Earn First Place Finishes at Jack Jennett Open

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI track and field recorded five first-place finishes, including freshman Jack Sumners who moved into the top five on the UNI all-time list with a jump of 7.46-meters. Sumners also moved into second-place in the MVC in the league standings Friday at the Jack Jennett Open.
Isaiah Trousil and Tayshaun Cooper went 1-2 in the 60-meter dash and with a time of 6.82. The duo was separated by just 2/1000ths of a second. Trousil tallied a time of 6.816 and Cooper had a time of 6.818. the two moved into second-place in the MVC.
The Panther women went first through fourth in the women's 60-meter dash. Rylan Santi won the final with a time of 7.68, Taylor Raines was second with a time of 7.77 and Emily Paul was third with a time of 7.84. Santi is now third in the MVC.
McKayla Cole took first in the mile with a time of 5:18.03 and the men's 4x800-meter team took first with a time of 8:05.93.
In the field events, Darius King won the shot put with a throw of 18.26-meters.
In total, UNI recorded 28 top-three finishes.
The Panthers continue an action-packed weekend Saturday at the Cyclone Open in Ames.
