Softball Closes Out Regular Season at Loyola

GAME NOTES
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI softball finishes off its regular season slate against the Loyola Ramblers, this weekend, in Chicago.
The two teams will play on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5. On Saturday, a doubleheader will be played beginning at 12:00 p.m., and on Sunday there will be a single game on Sunday starting at 11:00 a.m.
The Panthers are coming off of a win over the Iowa Hawkeyes. It was UNI's first win over a power-five conference opponent this season.
In the all-time series between UNI and Loyola, the Panthers own a 16-5 advantage. All-time on the road against Loyola in Chicago, UNI is 3-2. Under head coach Ryan Jacobs, the Panthers are 9-5 against Loyola.
Last season against Loyola, the Panthers were 1-2, at home. UNI outscored the Ramblers 8-7 in the three-game set, but still dropped two of the games. With just three games remaining in the season, the Panthers sit 1.5 GB of the Bradley Braves for third place in the MVC and are one game ahead of MSU.
Sammey Bunch needs two more home runs to tie the UNI career-record of 30 home runs. Bunch's 16 home runs in 2019 leads the MVC.
Following this weekend, the team heads to Peoria, Illinois for the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. The tournament will be played from Thursday, May 9 to Sunday, May 12.
