CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI softball team defeated the Hawkeyes of Iowa 4-2 in the UNI-Dome on Tuesday afternoon.

Northern Iowa vs Iowa | Final Score - W, 4-2

Jaclyn Spencer started the game in the circle for the Panthers, pitching seven full innings, walking one batter with ten strikeouts.

The Hawkeyes opened the first inning with a base hit and managed to bring in one run before Spencer closed it out.

Brittney Krodinger put the Panthers on the board in the first inning with a home run over the left field fence to tie the game.

The Panthers exploded in the fourth inning, bringing in three runs after Courtney Krodinger blast a double to left field Jaclyn Spencer crushed a two RBI home run over the center field fence to give the Panthers a 4-1 edge.

The Hawkeyes added a run in the sixth inning, but the Panthers held on and secured their first win in five games.

The Panthers will play their final games of conference play in Chicago, Illinois over the weekend, taking on the Ramblers of Loyola.
