Softball Set For In-State Rivalry

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI softball team is set to take on the University of Iowa in the UNI-Dome on Tuesday, April 30.

THE PANTHERS

The Panthers are 10-7 at home in 2019, and at home against MVC opponents, the team is 7-5.
The Panthers have outscored MVC opponents, 70-13, in their seven home victories in 2019.
UNI is second in the MVC with 51 home runs as a team. If the Panthers finish top-3 in home runs, it would be the fifth time since 2014 the team has accomplished the feat.
Six Panthers have set new career-bests for home runs in a season: Sammey Bunch (16), Ashley Chesser (11), Brittney Krodinger (8), Courtney Krodinger (7), Adara Opiola (4) and Emma Valainis (3).
The Panthers have hit 25 more home runs than they have allowed in 2019. The team is ranked 30th in the NCAA in home runs/game (1.25).
Sammey Bunch (28 career home runs) needs two home runs to tie the UNI career home run record (30).
Sammey Bunch is top-15 in the NCAA in home runs (16) and is top-10 in the NCAA in home runs/game (.43).
Brittney Krodinger has set/currently has career-highs in: batting average (.262), runs (29), home runs (8), RBI (28), slugging (.533), OB% (.368), putouts (244) and fielding percentage (.907).
Ashley Chesser career-highs: runs (22), hits (29), home runs (11), RBI (34), total bases (67), walks (26), hbp (2), stolen bases (2), putouts (199) and assists (35).
The Panthers fell to the Hawkeyes in there last contest, dropping the in-state rivalry 4-2 in Cedar Falls during the 2017 season.
In the all-time series between the two teams, UNI is 24-31 against the Hawkeyes.
Under head coach Ryan Jacobs, the Panthers are 2-9 when playing the Hawkeyes.
