UNI Relays Highlight Friday at Drake Relays

DES MOINES – The UNI men's and women's 4x100-meter relay teams both qualified for Saturday's final after a strong performance in the prelims at the Drake Relays Friday.
The relays highlighted a relatively light day for the Panthers at the blue oval.
The men's 4x100 team enters the final with the sixth seed after putting up a time of 40.59 Just a fraction of a second off of their season-best time. UNI topped four teams from power-five conferences in the effort.
The UNI women are eighth after the prelims and put up a season-best time of 46.67.
The UNI women's 4x800-meter relay team scored a sixth-place finish with a time of 8:54.44.
Patrice Watson, a member of the women's 4x100-meter relay team, also advanced to the final in the 100-meter hurdles and currently sits seventh with a career-best time of 13.72.
Hope Koerperich made the final in the women's discus but finished ninth with a throw of 157-feet-11.
The Panthers continue the relays Saturday with field events beginning at 9 a.m.
