Panthers Face Missouri State in MVC Semis

UNI defeated Southern Illinois 66-63 after Taylor Hagen hit a go-ahead bucket with under 20 seconds to play. The third-seeded Panthers advance to face No. 2 Missouri State in the MVC semifinals at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline, Ill. at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Karli Rucker is the Panthers' leading scorer at 14.5 PPG. Mikaela Morgan is second on the team at 9.2 points per game. Bre Gunnels leads UNI in the rebounding category at 4.9 RPG. Senior captain Ellie Howell will miss the remainder of the season with an injury.
Missouri State is 21-9 on the season and won its three games and seven of its last eight. It advanced to the semifinal with a 59-50 win over Loyola in the quarterfinals. Danielle Gitzen scored a game-high 18 points to lead the way and Jasmine Franklin tallied nine points and 12 rebounds. Three Bears average double figures led by Glitzen with 12.6 PPG.
MSU coach Kellie Harper was named the MVC Coach of the Year.
The Bears won both matchups of the season with 63-58 win in Cedar Falls and a 58-48 win in Springfield.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
