Panthers Set for Intrastate Matchup with Hawkeyes

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI Panthers (18-14, 3-4) make an intrastate journey to Iowa City, Iowa to square off against the Iowa Hawkeyes (15-17, 1-4) Wednesday, April 4.

The Panthers, coming off their first Missouri Valley Conference series win of the season, will look to upset the Hawkeyes on their home field. UNI's last win against the Hawkeyes, in Iowa City came in 2014. The Panthers played a close game with the Hawkeyes, and UNI came away with a 9-8 win.

In the all-time series between the two teams, UNI trails the Iowa Hawkeyes, 24-31. The Panthers are 2-5 against Iowa in the last seven games.Â

Following the out-of-conference game, the Panthers will head to Valparaiso, Indiana for their first conference matchup with the Crusaders. The Crusaders are in their first season as members of the Missouri Valley Conference.

- Outfielder Brittney Roby is the team leader in batting average, runs, hits, doubles, and on-base percentage.
- Sammey Bunch continues to pile up the RBIs for the Panthers offense, leading the team with 23 RBIs.
- Brooke Craig, with a 9-5 record, is the UNI pitching leader in wins.
- Freshman Emma Olejniczak, in her last three games, has pitched 7.2 innings without allowing an earned run.
- Jaclyn Spencer picked up a win on Saturday, in a 2-1 win over the bears, marking her first pitching victory since March 4.
- Catcher Ashley Chesser raised her batting average more than .100 points, after a week that saw her go 7-13 at the plate. Chesser also drove in four batters, more than doubling her RBI total for the season.
