CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern scored a 3-0 win over the Indiana State Sycamores in the third game of the weekend's three-game series.

UNI starter Brooke Craig tossed a four-hit shutout to earn the victory. Craig retired the final 14 Sycamore batters for her fourth shutout this season.

Craig allowed a pair of singles to start the contest but worked out of a second and third one-out situation with a strikeout and groundout to third.

The Waterloo native allowed a pair of singles in the third and worked out of that jam with a popup to shortstop Sammey Bunch and then Bunch ended the threat by making an unassisted out at second on a grounder from Indiana State's Amanda Guercio.

The Panther offense scored a single run in the second. UNI got on the board with the leadoff double from Olivia Brooks, who was on her way to a three-hit game. Brooks moved to third on a sacrifice bunt from Tianna Drahn and then scored on an RBI single from Ashley Chesser.

Kennedy Bailey added to the lead with a solo home run to right with one out in the third. Adara Opiola started a two-out rally in the third with a single and then swiped second. Opiola scored the final run of the game on an RBI single from Brooks.

Brooks' effort on Sunday capped a week in which she went 10-for-14 at the plate (.714 batting average) with four runs. Brooks has two three-hit games this season.

Sunday's game was the first game at Robinson-Dresser Field this season for the Panthers after having played its first 13 home games in the UNI-Dome.

UNI improves to 23-21 overall and 8-10 in MVC play, while Indiana State drops to 22-22 overall and 9-10 in league action.

UP NEXT –
UNI will travel to Drake on Tuesday for a single game against the Bulldogs at 6 p.m. at Buel Field in Des Moines. The game will be shown live on ESPN+ ($4.99 monthly subscription is required to view). The Panthers will complete the home portion of its schedule next weekend when UNI plays host to the Illinois State Redbirds at Robinson-Dresser Field on Saturday (Noon, 2 p.m.) and Sunday (11 a.m.).
