Panthers Shutout in Series Finale

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Panthers offense was halted on Sunday, in a 2-0 loss to the Loyola Ramblers.
Northern Iowa Panthers vs. Loyola Ramblers | Final Score – L, 2-0
Brooke Craig got the start for UNI, but only lasted one inning. Craig walked a batter and gave up two hits, while allowing both of the Ramblers' runs to score. Craig threw 29 pitches in her lone inning of work.
Emma Olejniczak threw six solid innings of relief work, giving up only three base hits, while striking out five batters. Olejniczak's five strikeouts was the second-highest strikeout total of her career (5), with her career-high (7) coming last weekend against Valparaiso.
The offense was stagnant on Sunday, and for the second straight game the Panthers were unable to bring a runner home.
Brittney Roby was able to work two walks out of the leadoff spot, and her lone out was on a diving play made by the Ramblers' left fielder.
Ashley Chesser had the sole extra base-hit for the Panthers in the series finale. Chesser hit a double to the right field fence. Tianna Drahn and Brittney Krodinger had the only other base hits for the Panthers in the game. Drahn also was able to steal a base in the fifth inning.
The shutout marked the fourth time this season that the Panthers have suffered a shutout loss.
UP NEXT –
The Panthers stay in Cedar Falls for a series against the Drake Bulldogs on Tuesday, April 15. The first game of the doubleheader will begin at 4:00 p.m. The games will be played in the UNI-Dome.
