ST. GEORGE, Utah - The University of Northern Iowa women's golf team is in fourth place following the opening round at the Pizza Hut Pat Lady Thunderbird Invitational at Sunbrook Golf Course.
The Panthers had a round one score of (310), placing them right behind Oral Roberts, Wyoming and South Dakota State.
Senior Maddie Bertsch's impressive streak appears to have spilled over into today as she is currently tied for fifth place overall after shooting 3-over (75) on the day.
Paige Van Dyk and Emily Snelling also shot well today as Van Dyk's 4-over (76) finish puts her at 10th place overall, while Snelling sits at 17th after shooting 6-over (78).
Junior Sarah McMichael finished 9-over (81) on the afternoon, tying her for 39th place overall, while Hannah Bermel sits at 64th place following a tough 16-over (88) day. Bermel will look to improve tomorrow in round two.
Both Sydney Eaton and Anne Gradoville participated as individuals today. Eaton sits tied for 28th place while Gradoville holds a share of 61st.
Bertsch and the Panthers will continue their battle as they will wrap up the tournament tomorrow.
