Panthers Look to Rebound in Bruin Classic

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa softball team looks to bounce back after a winless tournament in Alabama as they travel to Nashville, Tennessee. The Panthers will play in the Bruin Classic hosted by Belmont University.
The Panthers will take on North Carolina A&T State (7:00 p.m. CT) on Friday. Saturday's matchups for UNI will be Butler University (10:00 a.m. CT) and Belmont University (12:15 p.m. CT). The Panthers will close out the tournament on Sunday in a doubleheader against North Carolina A&T State (9:00 a.m. CT) and Butler University (10:30 a.m. CT).
The Aggies of North Carolina A&T State own a 2-8 record in the 2018 season. The Aggies won three games in their conference tournament in 2017, before losing to Florida A&M. The Panthers and Aggies have never faced each other in program history.
The Butler Bulldogs enter the Bruin Classic with a 2-7 record and have lost three of their last four games. In 2017, UCF finished with a 23-29 (11-9 Big East), before dropping the opening round game of the Big East Conference Tournament to St. John's. UNI is undefeated (4-0) against Butler in the all-time series history.
Belmont University, the host of the Bruin Classic, enter with a 7-2 record in the 2018 season. The Bruins went 35-22 (10-12 Ohio Valley) in 2017, losing in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. The Panthers have never faced the Bruins in program history.
The Panthers will travel to Lawrence, Kansas to take part in the Kansas Invitational from Mar. 9-11, following the Bruin Classic.
