Panthers Host Bulldogs for Annual #Play4Kay Game

UNI GAME NOTES
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team (13-11, 9-4 MVC) will take on Drake (18-7, 13-0 MVC) on Friday, with the contest marking the annual Play 4 Kay cancer awareness game.
The Panthers and Bulldogs will tip off at 7 p.m. CT, with Drake putting its undefeated conference streak on the line.
Head coach Tanya Warren will be donating $25 for every made UNI 3-pointer on Friday night, with all funds going to a cancer foundation of her choice.

NEED TO KNOW
- UNI (13-11, 9-4 MVC) hosts Drake (18-7, 13-0 MVC) on Friday night, with the Bulldogs owning a 35-game winning streak in regular-season MVC contests.
- Drake's last regular-season loss in the MVC came at the hands of UNI on Feb. 19. 2016 after the Panthers defeated the Bulldogs 85-74 at home.
- Friday's matchup features the MVC's top-rebounding squads, with UNI (40.0) ranking first, and Drake (39.7) not far behind at second overall in the conference.
- The Panthers rank second in the MVC this season for scoring defense, only allowing 58.5 points per game. During conference play, UNI has allowed just 53.5 points per league contest.
- Under head coach Tanya Warren, UNI is a perfect 71-0 when holding opponents to 50 points or less.
- Junior Ellie Howell owns a team-high 15 games in double figures, with 11 coming in MVC play.

SERIES WITH DRAKE
- UNI has lost its last four games against Drake, with the Panthers dropping this season's earlier contest against the Bulldogs, 81-64, in Des Moines.
- The Panthers have not beat the Bulldogs since March 19, 2016, as UNI earned a 64-58 victory at home in the 2016 NIT against Drake.
- Overall, UNI trails the all-time series 24-60 and is 16-22 overall against Drake at home.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- Drake is 18-7 overall and a perfect 13-0 in conference action.
- The Bulldogs have not lost since Dec. 21, 2017, which was a 79-66 defeat at the hands of Iowa on the road.
- Drake has won its last 35 regular-season games in MVC action, with its last loss coming against the Panthers on Feb. 19, 2016.
- Sarah Rhine leads Drake with 15.8 points per game this season, while averaging 6.4 rebounds a contest.

- Over her 11-year career at the helm, Tanya Warren has earned a 71-0 record against foes when holding them to 50 points or less.
- Warren's highest total for a season was in 2015-16, when the Panthers held 12 foes to 50 points or less.
- This season, the Panthers are 6-0 when holding an opponent to 50 points or less.
PANTHER SHARP SHOOTERS
- UNI has knocked down 179-of-578 (31.0%) from 3-point land this season.
- The 179 made 3-pointers this season rank as the third-most in the MVC.
- The Panthers are averaging 7.5 made 3-pointers a game.
- Last season, the Panthers shot 250-848 (29.5%) from beyond the arc to average 7.6 made 3-pointers a game.
- Senior Kennedy Kirkpatrick leads UNI with 35 made 3-pointers this season.
UNI CONTROLS THE GLASS
- This season, the Panthers rank second in the MVC with a 5.2 rebounding margin over foes.
- UNI has outrebounded 18 foes this season, with the highest margin of 18 coming against Wyoming earlier in November.
- When outrebounding teams this season, UNI is 12-6 on the season.
- The Panthers are averaging 40.0 rebounds per contest, which ranks first in the MVC.
MAAHS CLIMBS UP THE RECORD BOOK
- Sophomore Megan Maahs has had a sensational season rebounding the ball in 2017-18.
- Maahs currently sits sixth all-time for most rebounds in a season (241) at UNI, while ranking 10th all-time for most defensive rebounds in a season (168).
- If the season ended today, her 10.0 rebounds per game would rank fourth all-time at UNI in a single season.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
- Sophomore Megan Maahs leads the MVC with nine double-doubles this season.
- That total is the most in a season for UNI since Alex Cook earned 10 in 2004-05.
- Maahs ranks 27th in the NCAA for total rebounds per contest at 10.0.
- In the MVC, Maahs tops the league this season in rebounds per game (10.0), defensive rebounds per game (7.0) and most double-doubles (9).
- Only two other Panthers have earned double-doubles with Ellie Howell and Rose Simon-Ressler each earning their career-firsts this season.
- Howell's came against Indiana State (1/14) after scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Simon-Ressler's came against Evansville (2/11) after posting 10 points and grabbing a career-high 11 rebounds.
- The double-doubles for Maahs and Howell against Indiana State (1/14) marked the first time UNI had two players record a double-double in the same game since Feb. 2, 2014 versus Drake (Stephanie Davison, Jen Keitel, Hannah Schonhardt).
WARREN IN THE VALLEY
- Head coach Tanya Warren is fifth all-time wins in the Missouri Valley Conference, with 127 league victories under her belt. Warren is behind Creighton's Jim Flanery (2003-13) who owns 131 wins.
- Overall, Warren's 199 wins also rank fifth overall, placing behind Barbara Hilke (1983-92) of Eastern Illinois' 231.
HOWELL HEATS UP IN LEAGUE PLAY
- This season, redshirt junior Ellie Howell has scored in double figures a team-high 15 times, with 11 of those coming in conference play.
- Howell scored a season-high 21 points against Loyola.
- During MVC play, Howell is averaging a team-best 12.2 points per outing.
