Two School Records Fall for UNI at Jimmy Grant Invite

RESULTS
IOWA CITY – The UNI Panther track and field team opened the indoor season with a strong showing at the Jimmy Grant Open, including an event win, a pair of school records and nine top-three finishes Saturday in Iowa City.Â
Maddie McCalla finished first in the 300m Dash with a UNI record time of 39.31. She beat Shantel Twiggs' record of 39.74 from 1994 to take the top spot all time.Â
On the men's side in the 300m Dash, Evan Long took third with a time of 33.78. He broke another long-standing Panther record, edging Jim Turner's 1989 mark of 33.95.
Taylor Raimes won her preliminary heat in the 60m dash to earn a trip to the final where she finished fifth with a time of 7.86, just 9/100ths off of her personal best.
Isaiah Trousil finished third in the 300m Dash open with a time of 34.29 and Brooke Lorenz did the same in the women's 300m Dash open with a time of 41.97.Â
Lyndsie Schinkel took second in the women's 1,000m run with a time of 2:54.89.Â
In the field events, Owen Minshall finished second in the high jump with a jump of 2.05m (6-feet-08.75), Keegan Tritle finished second in the shot put with a toss of 17.66m (57-feet-11.25). Alanna Nietert notched a second-place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 18.48m (60-feet-07.75). On the men's side, Isaac Holtz finished second with a throw of 17.47m (57-feet-03.75).
The meet is the lone outing in December for UNI. The Panthers are back in action in January at the Iowa Invite in Iowa City on Jan. 12.
