
Men's Basketball Narrowly Defeats Old Dominion

ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands – The UNI Panthers finished their three-game slate at the Paradise Jam with a victory over Old Dominion University. The Panthers narrowly defeated the Monarchs 54-53 in the lowest scoring game of the season.
The Panthers started hot, making three three-pointers to start the game. What looked to be a high scoring and fast-paced game, turned out to be the lowest scoring game of the season, with the Panthers entering halftime up just 26-21.
While shooting 36.7% from the field, the Panthers were getting good looks and clean shots off all game long, and managed to make 11 of the teams 25 three-point attempts. The Panthers managed just 28 points in the second half, but it was just enough to secure the one-point victory.
For the fourth time this season, freshman AJ Green led the Panthers in scoring, recording 15 points while shooting 5-11 from the field. Spencer Haldeman provided some highlight reel three-pointers in the Panthers victory, closer to half then the three-point arc, Haldeman made a deep three to put the Panthers up six points with just over eight minutes remaining in the game.
Defensively the Panthers managed just four steals and brought in 35 rebounds. Isaiah Brown led the Panthers in rebounds with six while Wyatt Lohaus, Spencer Haldeman, and Tywhon Pickford each brought in four rebounds.

The Panthers will get four days to prepare for their next opponent, the monarchs of Old Dominion. This is the first time the Panthers have played the same team back to back since the 2016-17 season when they played Xavier in the Tire Pros Invitational and then played again five days later.
