No. 22 UNI Football Hosts Top-Ranked NDSU

THE GAME
No. 22 UNI Panther football hosts top-ranked North Dakota State University. The Panthers are coming off of consecutive shutouts and have not allowed a point in nine consecutive quarters. UNI is 2-2 on the year with just one home game so far. NDSU is 4-0 on the year but has yet to hit the road. They are coming off of a 21-17 win over then No. 3 South Dakota State last Saturday in the Fargo Dome.
No. 21 opened the Valley Football season with a strong performance in all three phases of the game. Trevor Allen led the way for UNI with 180 yards rushing and two touchdowns while Eli Dunne was 16-24 for 218 yards. Defensively, the Panthers tallied a shutout and it was closed out with an exclamation point when Duncan Ferch returned an interception 19 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.Â
UNI faces the top-ranked Bison in the first road trip of the season of NDSU. The Bison survived a battle of top-5 teams last week, topping No. 3 South Dakota State 21-17 in the Fargo Dome to take back the Dakota Marker.Â
NDSU has racked up 1794 yards of total offense in just four games. They have 1,097 yards rushing and average 448.5 yards of offense per game.Â
Bruce Anderson spearheads the attack with 322 yards on the year, but five Bison players have 17 rushing attempts or more. Easton Stick has started every game for NDSU at quarterback and is 40-72 for 672 yards and five touchdowns.Â
Defensively, Safety Robbie Grimsley has a team-high 30 tackles while Cole Kancz has a team-high 4.0 sacks. Jabril Cox has a pair of interceptions, both returned for touchdowns.Â
Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.

• The Panthers are ranked No. 22 in the STATS FCS Poll and No. 22 in the FCS Coaches' Poll.
•UNI is one of just five teams in FCS football that has scored on every trip into the red zone this season. In 16 trips inside the 20, the Panthers have five rushing touchdowns, six passing TDs and five field goals. The Panthers are the only MVFC team to be perfect in red zone trips.
• Running back Marcus Weymiller, offensive tackle Cal Twait, quarterback Eli Dunne and linebacker Duncan Ferch were announced as captains for the 2018 season by head coach Mark Farley.Â
• The Panthers have outscored their opponents 85-17 after the break. UNI has a 43-0 advantage in the fourth quarter over the first three games of the season.
• Brothers Trevor and AJ Allen, sons of Panther Hall of Famer Andre Allen, are both making waves for UNI early this season. Trevor is UNI's leading rusher through four games. AJ is one of two Panthers with multiple interceptions and is third on the team in total tackles• The Panthers are 12-2 against Indiana State under Mark Farley. The two losses came by a combined three points (21-19 - 2002 and 20-19 – 2014).
• The last UNI win against NDSU came in 2014 when the Panthers broke up NDSU's 33-game win streak.
• Since NDSU joined the Missouri Valley Football Conference in 2008, UNI is 3-2 against the Bison at the UNI-Dome.Â
• After winning the FCS National Championship last season, the Bison are off to a great start in 2018. They have a 4-0 record although Saturday's game will be the first outside the friendly confines of the Fargo Dome.Â
