EUGENE, Oregon – UNI Track and Field's Brandon Carnes earned another second-team all-America honor at the 2017 NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships.

He earned his first second team all-America honor during the indoor season in 2016. Carnes earned All-America honorable mentions in the outdoor seasons in 2016 and 2015.

The senior from Bradenton, Florida, finished 13th in the semifinals of the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.16 with a legal wind of + 0.8 m/s.

The top time by Christian Coleman of Tennessee (9.82) broke the NCAA meet and college best record set in 2011. Â

Carnes wrapped up his collegiate career with 16 MVC titles. He never lost to a conference competitor in the 100-meter or 200-meter dashes.

He qualified all four years for the NCAA West Preliminary Round. He holds the UNI and conference records in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. In the first rounds of the 200-meter dash at the 2017 NCAA Division I West Preliminary Round, he crushed the 200-meter conference record set 33 years ago. He ran a wind-legal time of 20.25 seconds to beat Indiana State's Dwight Williams' time of 20.36 set in 1984.

He also owns the indoor records for the 60-meter dash at the school and conference levels and the school record for the indoor 200-meter dash.

He was the first Panther to win both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes at the MVC indoor championship. He also made history in the conference by being:
- The only four-time 60-meter champion
- Just one of three sprinters to win four indoor 200-meter dash titles
- Just one of two sprinters to win four outdoor 100-meter dash titles
- Just one of three sprinters to win four outdoor 200-meter dash titles
He was named the MVC Most Valuable Athlete at the:
- 2015 outdoor championships
- 2014 indoor championships
