UNI Notches 5th-Place Finish at Twin Oaks Event

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – The University of Northern Iowa men's golf team finished up the two-day of the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate tournament with the program's best three-day round total this year.
The Panthers tallied round scores of 296-291-295, for a total of 882 ( 30) in the event hosted by Missouri State.
The third round was delayed due to weather and the times changed to a shotgun start.
Leading the team was junior Sam DeBartolo who tied for fifth overall. He had round scores of 71-74-71, totaling 216 ( 3) as well. He had 10 birdies with four coming in the second round.
Tied for 16th was senior Dustin Atkinson. He scored 75-73-73 in each round that totaled up to 221 ( 8). He had six birdies including three in the final round.
Senior David Spengler also tied for 16th in the tournament. He came into the second day tied for ninth and had a season-best second round score of 71. His final round scores were 74-71-76, totaling 221 ( 8). Spengler had eight birdies including four in the second round.
Sophomore Davis Sutton came in tied for 34th with round scores of 78-73-75, totaling 226 ( 13). He recorded five birdies, including three in round two.
Close behind was redshirt sophomore Marshal Lamb who came in tied for 39th with scores of 76-74-77, with a total of 227 ( 14) for the tournament.
Junior Matt Junge is coming in tied for 43rd individually for the Panthers. He had scores of 80-74-74, for a total of 228 ( 15). He had one eagle and nine birdies including four in the second and third rounds.
Also golfing individually is freshman Jack Klingel, coming in tied for 64th for the Panthers. He had round scores of 78-81-82, totaling 241 ( 28).
The Panthers will continue the spring season April 3-4 at the RedWolves Intercollegiate tournament in Jonesboro, Arkansas, at RidgePoint Country Club.
Bradley won the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate with scores of 291-286-282, totaling 859 ( 7). Ethan Brue of Bradley tallied medalist honors with scores of 69-68-70, totaling 207 (-6).
