UNI Picks Up Exhibition Win Over UNC Pembroke

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team picked up a 72-66 exhibition victory over visiting UNC Pembroke on Sunday in the McLeod Center.

UNI rallied from an eight-point deficit in the final four minutes to score the triumph. Pembroke led 64-56 at the 3:58 mark of the second half before the Panthers closed the game on a 16-2 run.

Freshman guard Tywhon Pickford notched a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Pickford scored all 15 of his points in the second half, including a trio of 3-pointers in the final four minutes of the game.

UNI led by as many as 18 points in the first half and built a 37-19 lead with 3:10 left before halftime.

NOTES: UNI honored legendary head coach Eldon Miller prior to the game with a banner that will hang in the McLeod Center ... Miller is serving as a volunteer assistant coach for his son - UNC Pembroke head coach Ben Miller.
