UNI Continues Road Swing to the Dakotas

UNI GAME NOTES
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team (1-1) heads to the Dakotas for a pair of games on Thursday and Saturday as the Panthers take on South Dakota State (5-1) and North Dakota (3-2).
The Panthers and Jackrabbits will tip off at 7 p.m. CT, while Saturday's contest in Grand Forks against the Hawks will begin at 2 p.m. CT.
HOW TO TUNE IN
Thursday's game at Creighton will not be televised, but Saturday's game against UND will be aired live on Fox Sports North and FCS Atlantic.

NEED TO KNOW
- UNI continues its road stretch with a pair of games against South Dakota State and North Dakota on Thursday and Saturday.
- The Panthers trail the series against SDSU, 8-3, while leading UND, 4-2.
- Head coach Tanya Warren is 1-7 overall against the Jackrabbits and 3-2 against the Hawks.
- UNI has not defeated SDSU since 2010's 81-60 win over the Jackrabbits.

SCOUTING THE JACKRABBITS/HAWKS
- Scouting the Jackrabbits/HAWKS
- SDSU finished last season with a 23-9 record on the year, while advancing to the WNIT second round. UND also advanced to the WNIT, but fell in the first round after earning a 20-11 mark in 2016-17.
- So far this season, the Jackrabbits are 5-1 and the Hawks are 3-2.
- SDSU's has earned highlight wins over George Washington, North Dakota and No. 23 North Carolina State. UND started the season 0-2, but has won its last three games.
- Macy Miller is SDSU's leading scorer this season, after averaging 18.3 points a game. The junior guard is 13-of-27 shots from 3-point range as well to aid the Jackrabbits.
- Lexi Klabo has earned a 17.8 scoring average this season to lead UND, while three other Hawks are averaging double-figures with Fallyn Freije, Jill Morton and Melissa Dailey scoring 11.6, 10.6 and 10.4 respectively.
DEFENDERS OF WARREN
- UNI is 134-19 under the direction of head coach Tanya Warren when holding an opponent to 60 points or less.
- Five of UNI's top-10 scoring defense averages in school history have come during the Warren era, while the Panthers ranked second in the Valley last season after holding opponents to 58.3 points per game.
- UNI was 19-0 in 2016-17 when holding foes to 60 points or less, so far this season the Panthers are 2-2.
PANTHER SHARP SHOOTERS
- UNI has knocked down 29-of-104 (27.9%) from 3-point land this season.
- The Panthers are averaging 5.8 made 3-pointers a game.
- Last season, the Panthers shot 250-848 (29.5%) from beyond the arc to average 7.6 made 3-pointers a game.
- Kennedy Kirkpatrick and Ellie Howell are tied for the most made 3-pointers on the team this season, while six shots knocked down.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
- Sophomore Megan Maahs turned in quite the performance to open the season, as she averages 10.6 points and 12.8 rebounds per game for the Panthers.
- Maahs has earned three double-doubles this season, which is tied for the 24th in the NCAA.
- For her career, Maahs has earned four double-doubles as a Panther. The sophomore has earned the last four double-doubles for UNI.
- The sophomore is second in the nation for her 9.0 defensive rebounds per game, while ranking seventh in the NCAA for total rebounds per contest with 12.8.
KIRKPATRICK LOGS CAREER-HIGHS
- Kennedy Kirkpatrick has scored in double-digits in four of her first five games this season.
- Kirkpatrick set new career-highs in back-to-back games after scoring 15 in the season-opener and then 17 as a follow-up against Iowa State.
- Against Creighton, Kirkpatrick set a career-high for assists after dishing out nine.
ALL WE DO IS WIN
- The 2016-17 season marked the eighth-straight season the Panthers have won at least 17 or more games.
- The win total also marked the 15th season since the women's basketball program joined NCAA Division I basketball in 1982 that the Panthers have achieved at least 17 wins.
- Tanya Warren now owns eight seasons with at least 17-plus wins or more in a season, which is more than all other coaches at UNI combined.
WARREN IN THE VALLEY
- Head coach Tanya Warren is fifth all-time wins in the Missouri Valley Conference, with 118 league victories under her belt. Warren is behind Creighton's Jim Flanery (2003-13) who owns 131 wins.
- Overall, Warren's 188 wins are ranked sixth all-time in the Missouri Valley Conference, passing Lisa Bluder (1991-00) of Drake's 187.
