Knodle Runs Through Records At Musco Twilight

Final Results
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The records continued to fall for the UNI track and field program as they competed in the Musco Twilight today, continuing to add momentum to another strong team outing.
Senior Paige Knodle highlighted the meet, breaking her own school record in the 100 meter hurdles. The Byron, Ill. native won the event with a wind-legal time of 13.26, ranking herself No. 11 in the NCAA West Region, beating her previous record of 13.54 that she ran in 2014. Rachel Peth also had a strong finish in the hurdles, placing third overall with a key career-best time of 13.91.
In the 400 meter dash, UNI had three personal-bests on the women's side, including a top-46 time in the West Region by senior Maddie Beeler. Beeler recorded a PR of 54.51 to rank her No. 39 in the West, second in the Missouri Valley Conference and No. 4 all-time as a Panther.
Maddie Irmen posted a career-best time in the 400 meters, finishing right behind Beeler in third in 55.96. Maddie Bell rounded out the trio of Maddie quarter milers, earning a fifth place finish with a personal-best time of 56.87. On the men's side, both Brett McCalla and Evan Long continued to turn in PRs with McCalla running a time of 48.32 to win his heat and Long turning in a time of 48.52.
Jennifer Roberts and Raheem Black both turned in fast times in the 400 meter hurdles, with Roberts running a PR for second place in 1:00.68. Black ran the second fastest time of his career in the men's race, coming in at 53.94.
The middle distance crews continued to shine for the Panthers as they came away from the meet with multiple PRs in the women's race while sweeping first through third places in the men's.
Brette Correy took first for the women in the 800 meters, running a career-best time of 2:06.85 that ranks her No. 2 all-time at UNI, first in the Valley and No. 18 in the NCAA West Region. She was followed by senior Amber Clock in third overall with a personal-best time of 2:08.71 for No. 4 all-time as a Panther and No. 39 in the West. Ashley Norem finished up the race in fourth overall, pacing at 2:11.55 for another PR and to push herself into the top-10 in the MVC.
Luke Johnston, Colynn Black and Jordan Pingel earned the top-three spots for the men, with Johnston winning the event with a personal-best time of 1:50.83. Colynn Black followed suit in second with a PR of 1:51.19 while Jordan Pingel turned in another top-five finish in third with a time of 1:52.01.
In the women's throws, Sarah Pate turned in one of the best performances of her career, throwing for a personal-best of 189-11.00 in the hammer throw for the win while ranking her No. 3 all-time at UNI, fourth in the MVC and No. 32 in the NCAA West Region.
Knodle won her second event of the day in the women's javelin throw, going for a distance of 146-02.00. Anna Bently turned in a personal-best in the competition, finishing in fourth overall with a mark of 128-06.00.
For the men, Justin Baker earned another first place finish in the men's hammer throw competition, keeping himself at the top of the Valley with a toss of 211-02.00. In the shot put competition, Jake Humpal added to the PR list with his own throw of 55-05.50 to rank himself in the top-five in the MVC this season.
Junior Anna Loken picked up her first win in the pole vault at UNI, finishing with a season-best height of 11-09.75. Rounding out UNI in the bar jumps was Chaley Rath in the high jump, placing second overall with a season-best height of 5-07.75 to keep her at No. 3 in the MVC.
Wrapping up the meet, the women's 4X400 meter relay team posted a second place finish, also earning a season-best time. The team of Beeler, Bell, Irmen and Roberts finished with a time of 3:45.63, pushing them into the top-five in the Valley.
UNI returns to action next week as they take part in the Drake Relays. The multi-event competition will run April 27-28 while the bulk of the meet runs April 29-30.
