The Basics: The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team will play for the MVC Tournament championship on Sunday, March 13 as they take on the Missouri State Lady Bears. The game is set for a 2 p.m. tip inside the iWireless Center.
The Series: Missouri State leads the all-time series between the Lady Bears and the Panthers, 25-46. While MSU dominated the 1980s and 1990s, UNI has held a commanding presence in recent years against the Lady Bears. The Panthers were on a five-game winning streak against MSU heading into last season and have picked up wins in 10 of the last 13 games. The last time UNI and Missouri State faced off in the MVC Tournament was in 2010-11 when UNI beat the Lady Bears, 69-41 in the championship game for its second straight tournament title.

• UNI won the Missouri Valley Conference regular season title with its 61-48 win over Evansville (3/5), its second regular season championship under the direction of Tanya Warren after also winning during the 2010-11 season.
• UNI's 15 conference wins this season is the second most in school history, trailing the 17 UNI put up during the 2010-11 championship season.
• The Panthers enter the game ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division I basketball in fewest turnovers and No. 4 in turnovers per game, averaging 11.3.

It is UNI's second regular season title, also winning in 2010-11. UNI enters the MVC Tournament as the No. 1 seed after winning the tournament in 2009-10 and 2010-11.
Awards Show: UNI brought in some hardware in addition to its regular season championship with the announcement of MVC post-season awards.

Survive and Advance: UNI defeated Southern Illinois (3/12) in the semifinals of the MVC Tournament, advancing to its third championship appearance in school history and third under the direction of Tanya Warren. UNI won the MVC Tournament in back-to-back seasons in 2009-10 and 2010-11.
Above and Beyond: Madison Weekly has reached 20 or more points in four straight games, giving her 557 on the season. It ranks her second all-time at UNI in season points and No. 4 all-time in season scoring average (18.0 ppg). She has also led the team in scoring in 21 of UNI's 31 games this year.
