UNI LOOKS TO EVEN SEASON
SERIES VS MISSOURI STATE
UNI (14-11, 6-6 MVC) will look to even the season series with the Missouri State Bears (10-14 overall, 6-6 MVC) Wednesday in the McLeod Center. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
   The Panthers completed non-conference play at 8-5 overall. UNI posted two top-five wins in non-conference play with triumphs over No. 1 North Carolina (71-67) and No. 5 Iowa State (81-79).

SCOUTING MISSOURI STATE
Missouri State and UNI enter Wednesday's game tied for sixth place in the MVC standings.
   The Bears come in having dropped an 83-64 decision at Evansville on Saturday. Prior to that loss, Missouri State had picked up victories over Illinois State and Bradley.
   The Bears are led in scoring by Dequon Miller (12.6 ppg), Chris Kendrix (11.5 ppg) and Camyn Boone (11.3 ppg).

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. THE BEARS
Missouri State holds a 41-29 lead over UNI in the all-time series between the two schools. However, UNI has won 12 of the last 15 matchups between the two schools.
   UNI is 7-2 vs. Missouri State in the McLeod Center.
   The Bears are 18-15 in 33 trips to Cedar Falls in a series that dates back to the 1982-83 season.
   Head coach Ben Jacobson is 14-5 vs. Missouri State.

EARLIER MEETING THIS SEASON
The Bears recorded a 59-58 win over the Panthers Jan. 6 at JQH Arena.
   MSU's Dequon Miller his a layup with :06.1 seconds left to complete a comeback that saw the Bears trail UNI 50-40 with 9:16 left in the second half.
   UNI's Paul Jesperson fouled out of the contest with 9:38 remaining in the game. The Panthers scored 11 points in the final 10 minutes.
FOUR STRAIGHT WINS FOR UNI
UNI has won four games in a row for the first time since putting together a five-game winning streak in November.

CLIMBING BACK INTO MVC RACE
UNI began the Missouri Valley Conference season at 2-6 and was five games out of second place.
   Following their four-game win streak, the Panthers are only two games out of second place with six league games remaining.
   The Panthers are only one game out of fourth place in the league standings.

SHOOTING THE LIGHTS OUT
UNI shot a season-best 61.8 percent from the field Saturday in an 82-66 road win over the Drake Bulldogs.
   UNI also drained a season-high 34 field goals in the Knapp Center.
   UNI's previous two season-highs came when the Panthers made 33 field goals and shot 61.1 percent in a 97-51 win at North Dakota (Nov. 28).
   The 34 made field goals are the most by a Panther squad since they made 40 vs. Wartburg (Nov. 10, 2012).

PLENTY OF DISHING
UNI tied a season high with 20 assists in Saturday's 82-66 win at Drake. UNI's Jeremy Morgan and Wes Washpun tied for team-high honors with six assists each in the victory.

JESPERSON NETS THIRD 20-POINT GAME THIS SEASON
UNI senior guard Paul Jesperson recorded his third 20-plus point scoring game of the season with a team-high 21 points in an 82-66 road win over Drake.
   Jesperson has scored 28 vs. Bradley, 21 vs. Iowa State and 21 vs. Drake. All three games came away from the McLeod Center.

UNI senior guard Matt Bohannon is looking to become the school's 39th 1,000-point scorer. Bohannon will enter Wednesday's game vs. Missouri State with 986 points.

PAULIE NETS 500 AS A PANTHER
Senior guard Paul Jesperson become the 100th UNI men's basketball player to score 500 or more points for the Panthers.
   Jesperson has tallied 504 points in 60 career games for the Panthers.
   He has scored 700 points in his collegiate career. He posted 196 points at Virginia before transferring to UNI.

FEW FOULS, FEWER TURNOVERS
UNI ranks No. 11 in the nation in fewest fouls per game (16.0).
   UNI ranks No. 12 in the country in fewest turnovers per game (10.2).

WINNING WAYS AT MCLEOD
The McLeod Center will celebrate its 10th anniversary this season and the Panthers have made winning a priority in their home venue.
   UNI has posted an all-time mark of 121-31 (.796) in games played in the McLeod Center. UNI is 66-21 in MVC games in the McLeod Center.
   UNI secured a school-record 16 home wins in the 2012-13 season. The previous mark of 15 home wins was set in the 1989-90 season.
   UNI has posted a trio of perfect home seasons since moving to NCAA Division I. UNI was a perfect 14-0 in both the 1983-84 and 2009-10 seasons and then UNI notched a 15-0 mark at home last season.
   UNI set its home-court win streak of 21 consecutive victories between the 2008-09 and 2010-11 seasons.
   The McLeod Center opened in November 2006.

WES LEADS UNI IN ASSISTS
Wes Washpun is leading the Panthers in assists (5.6 apg).
   For the second time this season Washpun recorded a double-figure assist total in a game. Washpun handed out 10 assists in a 68-50 win at Bradley. Earlier this year, he dished out 11 assists vs. Iowa State.
   Jay Imhoff (1979-80) and Brooks McKowen (2006-07) hold the UNI single-season assist record at 5.8 assists per game.

WASHPUN TOP 10 IN CAREER ASSISTS
Senior guard Wes Washpun has moved up to No. 8 at UNI in career assists. Washpun has dished out 348 assists at UNI.
   Washpun also handed out 23 assists at Tennessee as a freshman in the 2011-12 season, giving him 371 for his collegiate career.

   Morgan recorded a career-high seven steals at Bradley (1/27). The seven steals is the most by a UNI Panther in a Missouri Valley Conference game since Andy Woodley tallied eight steals vs. Southern Illinois (2/17/01).
   Morgan's steal of Joel Berry II's pass with :08 left and ensuing free throw helped clinch UNI's 71-67 victory over No. 1 North Carolina (Nov. 21).

MVC SWEEPS FOR COACH JAKE
UNI scored a season series sweep of the Drake Bulldogs Saturday for the fourth time in five years.
   UNI has swept an MVC opponent 34 times since the start of the 2006-07 season - Ben Jacobson's first year as the Panther head coach.
   UNI has now swept the season series from Bradley and Drake this year.

FINAL 30 SECONDS OF MAGIC
UNI outscored Evansville, 4-0, in the final 30 seconds of Wednesday's game to pull out a 57-54 victory over the Purple Aces.
   Wes Washpun hit a layup with 27 seconds left to lift UNI to a 55-54 lead. Jeremy Morgan blocked a shot and made a pair of free throws with 1.3 seconds left to ice the victory.
   It marks the first time UNI has trailed in the final minute this season and rallied for a victory. The last time UNI trailed with under a minute to go and won the game came last year at Illinois State (1/25/15). UNI trailed 53-51 with :26 left before Nate Buss nailed a three-pointer with :05.2 left for the game winner, 54-53.

SHUT DOWN DEFENSE VS UE
UNI had led for nearly 30 minutes in the game, but Evansville rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit to lead 44-40 with 11:37 left in the second half.
   UNI held Evansville without a field goal from the 11:37 mark to the 4:41 mark of the second half.
   The Panthers limited the Purple Aces to only two made field goals in the final 11:36 of the game.
   The Panthers also limited the league's top scorer D.J. Balentine to a season-low nine points. It marked the first time this season that Balentine had failed to reach double figures - ending a streak of 30 consecutive games dating back to the 2014-15 season.
   It was also the first time Balentine did not attempt a free throw this season.

UNI MBB IN APR TOP-10 PERCENT
The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball, men's golf, women's golf, women's cross country and women's volleyball teams have been recognized by the NCAA for their latest multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores. These teams posted multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports.
   The UNI men's basketball team has been recognized with a perfect APR score (1,000) in each of the last three seasons - the only MVC school to do that in each of the past three years.
   The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.

MBB INKS 3 IN EARLY SIGNING
UNI has announced the signing of Isaiah Brown, Tanner Lohaus, Juwan McCloud to National Letters-of-Intent to play for UNI Beginning in 2016-17.
   Brown (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound HS) is a 6'5", 170-pound, guard from Flower Mound, Texas. Brown averaged 14 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals as a junior at Flower Mound High School for head coach Eric Littleton. Flower Mound finished third in their district in 2014-15. He earned second-team all-district honors as a junior. He is the No. 25-ranked recruit in the 2016 recruiting class in the state of Texas according to Texas Hoops. He played AUU ball for Marcus Smart YGC36 for head coach Vonzell Thomas. He is the son of Craig and Sophia Brown. He has two siblings, Landon (10) and Maliyah (2).
   Lohaus (North Liberty, Iowa/Iowa City West HS) is a 6'7" 205-pound forward. Lohaus helped Iowa City West to the 2014 state championship for head coach Steve Bergman and a 23-3 record. Lohaus guided Iowa City West to a third-place finish in the 2015 state tournament with a 25-1 record. As a junior, Lohaus averaged 11.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He earned second-team all-Mississippi Valley Conference honors as a junior. He is the son of Anne Lohaus and Brad Lohaus. He is the younger brother of UNI sophomore guard Wyatt Lohaus.
   Juwan McCloud (Germantown, Wis./Germantown HS) is a 5'11" 150-pound guard. McCloud was named the North Shore Conference player of the year after helping lead the Warhawks to their sixth consecutive league crown. McCloud led Germantown HS to the Division I state championship game as a junior. He averaged 16.7 points per game as Germantown posted a mark of 27-1 in 2014-15 for then head coach Steve Showalter. McCloud played AAU with the Wisconsin Swing coached by Justin Litscher. He is the son of Brian and Mellisa McCloud. He has an older brother, Jalen.

   Long-time Panthers announcer Gary Rima handles play-by-play duties, while Kevin Boyle serves as analyst. Head coach Ben Jacobson's weekly radio call-in show will air on Thursdays, beginning in December at 6 p.m., live from The Other Place in Cedar Falls.
