Panthers to Host Drake Friday for Pink Game

The Basics: The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team is set to host the Drake Bulldogs for its annual Pink Game 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19. UNI's annual Play4Kay game is a platform and opportunity to promote awareness for breast cancer research.
The Series: Drake leads the all-time series between the two teams, 22-56. The series dates back to 1975, Drake's first season of collegiate basketball. UNI is 10-8 against the Bulldogs under the direction of Tanya Warren, including six straight wins between 2010-12. UNI won the first match of the season against Drake on the road, beating the Bulldogs 79-73.
Think Pink: Head coach Tanya Warren will donate $25 for every made three-pointer to cancer research against Drake. UNI is averaging 7.6 three-pointers a game this season, ranking them in the top-30 in NCAA Division I basketball. The Panthers will also be auctioning off the four seniors' Pink jerseys following the game. Fans wishing to bid can email JerseyAuction@uni.edu after the game is over with their full name, phone number, bid amount and jersey number they wish to purchase.

UNI's first contest against the Bulldogs in January was also a game that would decide league standings, with both the Panthers and Drake sitting at 5-1 at the top of the MVC.
Close Call: Four of the last five contests against Drake have been decided by six
points or less. UNI picked up a 79-73 victory over the Bulldogs (1/24) this season.

Keitel at the Shot: Senior Jen Keitel has shot over 50-percent from the field in five of the last seven games, including shooting over 70-percent in three consecutive games (vs. Missouri State, 2/5; vs. Wichita State, 2/7; at Indiana State, 2/12). She has also shot 100-percent from the free throw line in eight of the last nine games, including in six straight. She has 978 career points, just 22 shy of reaching the 1,000 career point milestone.
