The Basics: The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball will host the North Dakota Fighting Hawks on Sunday, Dec. 18 inside the McLeod Center. The game is set for a 2 p.m. tip with Brad Wells and Jacqui Kalin calling the action on ESPN3.

Panthers vs. The Big Sky: UNI is 7-4 all-time against the current members of the Big Sky, having only played five teams out of the 12 league members. One of UNI's seven wins came against Idaho this season when the Panthers claimed a 76-74 win over the Vandals at the Grand Canyon Thanksgiving Tournament (11/25).
About the Fighting Hawks: North Dakota enters the game against the Panthers 4-5 overall. The Fighting Hawks started the season on a three-game losing streak, including losses to MVC foe Drake and power-five schools in Iowa and Texas Tech. North Dakota will enter the game against the Panthers with back-to-back wins over North Dakota State and Mary, with three players currently averaging double digits.
Newcomer of the Week (12/12): Freshman Megan Maahs was named Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for his performance against Creighton (12/10).
Low Scoring: UNI held Creighton (12/10) to just 19 first half points, its lowest half total this season.
Game Winner: For the second time this season, freshman Megan Maahs scored the winning point in a game. Her free throw with less than 15 seconds to play in the game against Creighton (12/10) became the deciding factor in the game, with the Panthers posting a 50-49 win. She also scored the winning layup with two seconds on the clock against Idaho (11/25).
Freshman Starts: Megan Maahs started in her first collegiate game against Creighton (12/10), scoring in double digits for the third time this season with 12 points. She added seven rebounds to her stat line.
Rounding out the Game: Sophomore Mikaela Morgan turned in one of her most complete games, scoring 11 points while brining in five rebounds against Creighton (12/10). She added three assists, a steal and a block. Her steal couldn't have come at a better time when Creighton had nine seconds and the final shot, but she literally ripped the ball from the Bluejays on the defensive end of the court to seal the Panther win.
Careful Cats: UNI only had seven turnovers in its game against Creighton (12/10), a season-low for the Panthers. Through nine games, UNI is ranked No. 27 in the country in fewest turnovers per game and No. 2 in the Valley.

It also ranks her No. 8 all-time in career defensive rebounds with 435.
Moving Up: Madison Weekly has played in 101 games for the Panthers. Through nine games in 2016-17, Weekly has moved up on the career all-times lists at UNI, averaging 15.1 points per game this season.
