Panthers Dominate the Hawks

QUINCY, Illinois — The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team wrapped up competition today, competing against Quincy University. The Panthers won easily, defeating the Hawks 210-67.
The Panthers took a collection of top-3 finishes in all events at today's meet.
Rachel Siebenaller, Aftin Phyfe, Molly Lembezeder and Veronica Herrmann kicked the day off with a second place finish in the 400 Medley Relay, with a time of 4:21.30.
The Panthers took the top-3 spots in the 1000 Freestyle. Maya Appleton led the Panthers with a time of 11:19.94. Meredith Gorman and Kelsey Ostrowski followed Appleton with time of 11:24.61 and 11:28.12, respectively.
Sierra Sachtjen and Alexa Klimes took first and second place in the 200 Freestyle. Sachtjen swam a 2:00.86, with Klimes following at 2:05.31.
Autumn Roespch led teammates Shelby Holmes and Lauren Kacmarynski in the 50 Freestyle, with a time of 25.06. Holmes narrowly nabbed second place over Kacmarynski with a time of 26.15. Kacmarynski swam a time of 26.50.
Stephanie Jackson swam to a first place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:17.33. Olivia Knowles followed with a time of 2:20.97.
Phyfe and Herrmann took first and second places respectively in the 100 Butterfly, with times of 1:00.86 and 1:04.08.
Klimes took second place in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 57.68. Madison Rinaldi came in third with a time of 57.71.
Holmes took first place in the 500 Freestyle, with a time of 5:19.31. Savannah Jensen came in second place, with a time of 5:30 and Gorman rounded out the Panthers with a time of 5:31.04.
Phyfe wrapped up competition for the Panthers today, taking first in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:12.20.
NEXT TIME IN THE POOL
The Panthers are back in action Jan. 23 with a meet at home. The Panthers will play host to the Iowa State Cyclones for Senior Day, with competition starting at 12 p.m. in the Glen F. Henry Pool.
