Panthers Prep for Senior Day

Cedar Falls, Iowa—The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team looks to wrap up competition this Saturday for Senior Day. The Panthers will compete against in-state rival Iowa State.
Competition is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. in the Glen F. Henry Pool on the campus of UNI. Admission is free to the meet.
Iowa State is 4-3 in dual meets this season. UNI is 7-3 in dual meets.
Weekly Honors
Panthers Senior, Sarah Kemp, took home the MVC Diver of the Week title for the week of Jan. 18. At the Illinois State meet, Kemp took first place in the 1-meter dive and second place in the 3-meter dive. Kemp qualified for the Zone "D" Diving Championships, which will be held in March.
Last Time in the Pool
The Panthers were last in action January 15 and 16, competing against Illinois State and Quincy University. The Panthers got out of a losing streak against Illinois State, winning 156-144. That was the first win since the 2004-05 season. Senior Taylor Ostrowski won the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:09.24. Ostrowski has never lost in a dual meet against the Redbirds. Molly Lembezeder took home first place in the 50 and 100 Freestyles, with times of 23.97 and 52.38. Lembezeder also teamed up to take first home places in the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Freestyle Relay. Lembezeder and Crystal Florman teamed up with Autumn Roepsch and Rachel Siebenaller in the 400 Freestyle Relay for a time of 3:32.02. The squad broke the Illinois State pool record in that event. Allie Bey also had a strong performance in the diving competition tonight. Bey came in second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 259.72 and a third place finish in the 3-meter dive with a final score of 238.05.
In competition against Quincy, the Panthers easily swam away with the victory. Rachel Siebenaller, Aftin Phyfe, Molly Lembezeder and Veronica Herrmann kicked the day off with a second place finish in the 400 Medley Relay, with a time of 4:21.30. Stephanie Jackson swam to a first place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:17.33. Phyfe and Herrmann took first and second places in the 100 Butterfly, with times of 1:00.86 and 1:04.08. Holmes took first place in the 500 Freestyle, with a time of 5:19.31. Phyfe wrapped up competition for the Panthers against Quincy, taking first in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:12.20.
