Panthers Swim Past the Redbirds

NORMAL, Illinois — The University of Northern Iowa's women's swimming and diving team swam past MVC opponent Illinois State, 156-144.
This was the first win for the Panther squad over Illinois State since the 2004-05 season.
Senior Taylor Ostrowski won the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:09.24. Ostrowski has never lost in a dual meet against the Redbirds.
Veronica Herrmann took first place in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke events. She swam to a time of 1:05.36 in the 100 and a time of 2:22.96 in the 200.
Molly Lembezeder continued to dominate in the pool. Lembezeder took home first place in the 50 and 100 Freestyles, with times of 23.97 and 52.38 respectively.
Lembezeder also teamed up to take first home places in the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Freestyle Relay. Lembezeder teamed up with Madison Rinaldi, Herrmann and Crystal Florman for a time of 1:46.45 in the 200 Medley Relay. Lembezeder and Florman teamed up with Autumn Roepsch and Rachel Siebenaller in the 400 Freestyle Relay for a time of 3:32.02. The squad broke the Illinois State pool record in that event.
Siebenaller took home to strong performances in the 500 Freestyle and 1000 Freestyle. Siebenaller swam to a time of 5:08.91 in the 500 Freestyle and 10:43.06 in the 1000 Freestyle.
Senior Sarah Kemp qualified for the Zone "D" Diving Championships, which will be held in March. Kemp took home first place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 274.5 and a second place finish in the 3-meter dive with a score of 248.77.
Allie Bey also had a strong performance in the diving competition tonight. Bey came in second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 259.72 and a third place finish in the 3-meter dive with a final score of 238.05.
Head Coach Doug Humphrey was very excited about this victory and said, "The girls had a mission and executed it."Â
