Salzbrenner Named To Academic All-District Team

AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Holly Salzbrenner has been named to the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District Women's Track and Field Team, it was announced this week. Salzbrenner received first-team honors in District 6.
The teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his or her institution.
Salzbrenner, who majored in Biology with a 4.0 GPA, finished her career ranked third all-time at UNI in the indoor 400 meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:04.44. She was also a part of the All-MVC earning distance medley relay team that finished third at the indoor championships in 2015.
The Mount Vernon, Iowa native is a two-time All-MVC selection for her participation in the 4X400 meter relays in 2014 and 2015. She spent the entire 2015 outdoor season ranked in the top-10 in the 400 hurdles with her career-best time of 1:01.96 and finished sixth overall at the outdoor championships to score team points.
She is a two-time MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award winner and has been named to the MVC Honor Roll for two consecutive seasons. She also was recently named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete team for the first time in her career.
