UNI Downs Dayton, 6-1

The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team improved to 2-1 on the season with a 6-1 victory over the Dayton Flyers on Saturday.
The Panthers got the action started by taking two of the three doubles matches to secure the doubles points.
UNI then posted five singles wins to complete the dual victory. UNI's Elvira Lopez went the distance in each set and picked up two tiebreaker wins over Dayton's Alex Townsend, 7-6, 7-6. UNI's No. 3 singles player Jieke Stroobant knocked off Dayton's Carly Peck, 7-6, 6-3.
UNI's No. 4 singles player Astrid Santos completed her day with wins in singles and doubles - that included a 6-3, 7-5 win over Dayton's Jackie Kawamoto.
Gisela Kemper and Sydney Wolfe also won both singles and doubles matches against the Flyers.
UNI will travel to Columbia, Mo., on Wednesday to take on the Missouri Tigers at 12 p.m. UNI will also head to Iowa City to match up against the Iowa Hawkeyes next Saturday at 12 p.m.
