CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Northern Iowa women's soccer team faced off against South Dakota State Sunday afternoon. The Jackrabbits entered the game 3-2-2 after their road victory against Drake on Wednesday.
UNI head coach James Price inserted Brady Clark into the forward position, and it resulted in plenty of offensive opportunity for the Panthers. Clark responded with four shots, three of which deflected off the post.
During the second half South Dakota State challenged the Panthers, recording six of their 10 total shots in the half. However, 90 minutes proved to not be enough time. After a scoreless first overtime, the Jackrabbits were able to put back a deflection after a corner kick. Diana Potterveld shot the deflected cross past diving Panther goalkeeper Nicole Postel for the victory.
SDSU attempted 12 corner kicks and totalled 10 shots. Jackrabbit goalkeeper Nicole Inskeep recorded the victory while recording only one save due to the Panthers unlucky knack for hitting the goal posts early in the match.
The Panthers totalled five shots and three corner kicks. Brady Clark recorded four shot attempts, teammate Caitlyn Fuller was responsible for the other shot. Annie Dale was whistled for a yellow card in the 84th minute.
The Panthers will be back in action this Tuesday, Sept. 17th at 7 p.m. UNI will take on in-state rival Iowa in Iowa City.
