Panthers lose in overtime to Hawkeyes 2-1

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team lost a closely contested match against in-state rival Iowa on Tuesday evening, 2 to 1 in overtime.
The Hawkeyes broke open the scoring in the 78th minute when Ashley Catrell touched a pass to Anne Marie Thomas that snuck past senior Panther goalkeeper Nicole Postel.
UNI quickly responded with their own 78th minute goal, just 18 seconds after Iowa's goal. Sophomore attacking forward Brady Clark beat her defender and deposited a shot past Hawkeye goalkeeper Hannah Clark.
Regulation would end at a 1-1 tie. However the Hawkeyes would score during the first minute of overtime when Cloe Lacasse and Alex Melin would assist Ashley Catrell for the game-winner.
Caitlyn Fuller and Claire Clark each attempted shots on goal. The Panthers totalled four shots for the match and no corner kicks. The Hawkeyes fired 26 shots and 9 corner kicks.
Hawkeye goalkeeper Hannah Clark captured the win to move her record to 8-0. Panthers goalkeeper Nicole Postel recorded 13 saves in the loss. Postel has totalled 33 saves in her last three games.
The Panthers will be back in action on Friday, September 20th against in-state rival Iowa State. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
