Panther soccer continues non-conference play against Milwaukee

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The UNI soccer team continues its three-match homestand to open the regular season on Sunday as it welcomes the Milwaukee Panthers to town for the first time since 2002 in a non-conference battle of the Panthers.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT at the UNI Soccer Field with the contest free and open to the public.

Spectators can park in the west UNI-Dome lot as well as the gravel lot located next to the Doug and Anne Goschke Outdoor Practice Facility. Parking behind the team benches will be reserved for staff and game officials only.

UNI will also celebrate its 2026 senior day prior to the match, recognizing seniors Jenna Scholz, Kailey O'Brien, Ella Ubben, Maya Anderson and Camille Landphair in a pregame ceremony.

UNI returns to the pitch after a 4-0 season opening loss against South Dakota on Wednesday. Northern Iowa had scoring opportunities with Kylie Knief, Kailey O'Brien and Ella Ubben recording three shot attempts on goal in the contest, but UNI was unable to capitalize. Goalkeeper Poppy Anderson notched five saves in her Division I debut in net.

Sunday marks the third time Northern Iowa and Milwaukee will play in both programs' history, with Milwaukee having won both prior matchups. UNI traveled to Wisconsin in 2025 for a matchup at Engelmann Stadium, with Milwaukee emerging victorious by a 4-0 score.

SCOUTING MILWAUKEE
Milwaukee is coming off a 13-5-3 season that included a Horizon League regular season championship and the program's 19th NCAA Tournament appearance. The Panthers, like UNI, come into Sunday's match after a difficult season opening loss with a 7-0 defeat at Iowa on Wednesday.

Head coach Kevin Boyd lost his three leading goal scorers from a season ago, but retained senior forward Emily Petring who notched eight goals and six assists in the 2025 campaign.

The Panthers also returns forward Ashlyn Skinner-Barrett who scored four goals for the Panthers in 2025 and posted 15 total points, along with sophomore Kiersten White, who totaled six points a season ago.
