CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa defeated the Coyotes of South Dakota, 154-146. The Panthers finished with six first-place finishes on the night.
The top performer for UNI was Josie Itzen. Itzen had two first-place finishes. She took the top-spot in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:01.31. Itzen also took first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:14.71.
Itzen joined forces with teammates Natalie Johnson, Caryn Knight and Jaime Pearson to finish in second in the 400 medley relay. The relay team finished with a time of 4:08.72.
Kelly McCullough had a strong finish in the 200 butterfly to take the top-spot. She clocked in with a time of 2:17.72. McCullough finished second in the 200 backstroke, finishing with a time of 2:13.82.
Sarah Hedeen took first in the 200 breaststroke. She clocked in with a time of 2:32.71. Teammate Caryn Knight followed shortly after with a time of 2:33.56, to take second. Knight also took second in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM, clocking in with times of 1:10.24 and 2:16.63, respectively.
With a time of 5:21.21, Chelsea Hartman took first in the 500 freestyle. She also took second in the 1,000 freestyle, clocking in with a time of 10:51.28.
Bethany Olson took first in the 3-meter dive. She finished with 232.65 points. In the 1-meter dive, Olson finished in second. She finished with 223.60 points, just two points away from USD's Janine James, who took first.
Natalie Johnson, with a time of 1:02.64, finished in second place in the 100 backstroke.
In the 50 freestyle, Stephanie Frederick took second. She finished with a time of 24.85.
Jaime Pearson took second in the 100 butterfly, finishing with a time of 1:01.90.
The Panthers will continue action next Wed., Nov. 10 at Iowa State. The meet is set to begin at 6 p.m. at the Beyer Hall Pool in Ames, Iowa.
