
UNI Finishes Last Day of Competition at Iowa Invitational

The University of Northern Iowa finished three days of competition at the Iowa Invitational. UNI came in third at the meet with 581.5 points. The University of Iowa took first with 1,073 points and Truman State took second with 974.5 points. Western Illinois finished behind UNI with 430 points.
The top performer for the Panthers was Maggie Rickert. She swam 52.39 in the 100 freestyle, which beats her previous personal best time of 52.72, which was a school record.
Josie Itzen and Stephanie Frederick also swam in the 100 freestyle. Itzen clocked in at 54.91 and Frederick at 55.24.
Chelsea Hartman took the runner-up spot in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 17:29.78. Teammate Stephanie Yattoni took seventh, clocking in at 18:03.95.
Abby Girard, with a time of 2:10.78, snatched fourth in the 200 backstroke. Kelly McCullough took ninth with a time of 2:13.55.
Ashley Mangrich grabs the seventh place finish in the 200 breaststroke. Her time was 2:30.37. Sarah Hedeen was close behind, finishing in 2:30.80.
Rickert, Itzen, Frederick and A.Girard swam the 400 freestyle relay for a fourth place finish. They finished with a time of 3:38.39.
The Panthers will return to action Fri., Dec. 4, at the Mutual of Omaha Invitational. The meet will be held in Omaha, Neb. and competition is set to begin at 6 p.m.
