
Panthers Top North Dakota State 3-2

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Despite being out-shot 16-11, the University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team secured their first win of the season, a 3-2 triumph over North Dakota State. UNI's Chelsie Hochstedler scored two goals for the Panthers, while Megan Cameron added one.
After a scoreless first half, in which both teams took a combined nine shots, North Dakota State struck first at the 45:24 mark when Lorraine Thompson found the back of the net off a Laura Murphy pass.
UNI responded at the 54:32 mark when North Dakota State's goalkeeper Kalani Bertsch misplayed a ball and Hochstedler took advantage, knotting the score at 1-1. Hochstedler struck again at the 71:17 mark, putting the Panthers up 2-1.
Freshman Megan Cameron then scored her first collegiate goal of her career at the 79:14 mark off a Grace Goldman assist.
North Dakota State added their second goal at the 89:16 mark when Danielle Boldenow scored off a pass from Nicole Rand.
Six Panthers registered shots in the contest, with Hochstedler leading the way. Hochstedler finished the game with two goals off three shots. KJ Shepard, Nicole Ferlito and Grace Goldman all registered two shots apiece. Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Potzman registered 10 saves in the contest.
UNI (1-8-1) opens Missouri Valley Conference play Wednesday when the travel to Indiana State. The game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m
