Panthers' Nowak Wins UNI Invite Pentathlon

Group B Results
Freshman Rachel VanderHolt (Parkersburg, Iowa/Aplington-Parkersburg) won Group B of the pentathlon competition with 3,207 points.
After four events in the men's heptathlon, UNI senior Mat Clark (Ames, Iowa/Ames), with a score of 3,167 points, follows close behind in second.
WOMEN'S PENTATHLON RESULTS
Sophomore Dani Stipe (
VanderHolt secured her first-place finish after taking the top spot in Group B in the 60-meter hurdles and the high jump. She recorded a personal best in the hurdles with a time of 9.23 in the event. VanderHolt also place second in the shot put with a throw of 31 feet, 10 3/4 inches.
Green captured her second-place spot in Group B with a second place finish in the long jump with a leap of 16-6. She also placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.02 and third in the 800 meter run, clock in at 2:37.23 in the event.
Nowak completed her first-place finish in Group A after an impressive performance in the 60-meter hurdles finishing with a personal best 8.96 in the event. She also took first in the women's long jump with a leap of 18-2.25.
Stipe followed close behind and captured second place finishes in both the 60-meter hurdles and long jump in Group A. Stipe crossed the line with a season-best 9.01 in the event.
MEN'S HEPTATHLON RESULTS
Following four events in the heptathlon, Cepeda leads the pack in Group A with 3,228 points. Clark is in second place with 3,167 points, while UNI sophomore Tyler Dodd (
Cepeda took first in the shot put with a throw of 49-5.75 and matched his personal-best time of 7.09 in the 60-meter dash. Cepeda also recorded a personal best in the high jump, finishing second in the event with a leap of 6-6.25.
