Senior forward Shanon Dechant delivered three goals in UNI's exhibition win over Upper Iowa and senior midfielder Kaitlin Stimpson chipped in one. The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team defeated the Peacocks 4-0 this afternoon at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex.

UNI wasted no time getting on the board as Dechant capitalized on a Peacock miscue, scoring on a penalty kick at the 4:25 minute mark. The Panthers took a 2-0 lead nearly halfway through the first half when Dechant, a native of Marion, Iowa, scored her second goal unassisted.

Many members of the UNI squad saw action as 11 Panthers recorded a shot and four newcomers got playing time. UNI took a commanding 3-0 lead at the 55:13 mark as Stimpson scored a goal after receiving a nice pass from junior midfielder Candice Divoky.

Dechant then racked up her third goal of the game, fourth for UNI, with less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Sophomore goalie Krista Thorley played the entire game in the net, tallying four saves.

UNI hosts Loras College for its final exhibition game Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Cedar Valley Soccer Compex. The Panthers host Furman in their first regular season game on Aug. 26.
