High School: McHugh was a dual sport varisty athlete at Carmel Catholic HS in Mundelein, IL. McHugh earned all-conference and MVP honors her junior and senior years in both soccer and basketball, and captained both teams in 2012. A versatile player, McHugh started her high-school soccer career as a forward (2009 and 2010) and moved to center defense for the 2011 and 2012 seasons, proving productive in both positions as the team's leading scorer in 2010 and 2012. McHugh was a named to the Soccer All State team in 2012, and earned All Sectional, County and Area selections in 2011 and 2012 for both soccer and basketball. McHugh was a member of the Honor Roll, National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, IHSA Scholar, and was an Illinois State Scholar in high school.
