Panthers women’s tennis drops 5-2 decision to Milwaukee

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team fell 5-2 to Milwaukee Friday morning at the Black Hawk Tennis Center.

UNI picked up two singles victories, highlighted by a dominant performance at the No. 6 position.

Andrea Noa Galin earned the Panthers' first singles point of the day at No. 4, defeating Honoka Yamashita in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Abbie Peterson added UNI's second point with an impressive showing at No. 6 singles. Peterson cruised past Svava Schroeder, 6-1, 6-1.

In other singles action, Andjela Raznatovic battled at the top spot but fell to Nadiia Konieva, 7-5, 6-3. Lucia Schuknecht dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision at No. 2, while Yangjiaxin Li pushed her match to a second-set tiebreak before coming up short, 6-4, 7-6. At No. 5, Kayla Santosa forced a third set after taking the opener, but Sara Simonova secured the point in a tightly contested 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 match.

Milwaukee claimed the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. The No. 1 doubles pairing of Raznatovic and Schiknecht was locked in a tight battle, trailing 5-3, before the match was left unfinished.
