Panthers head to Vermillion for matchups with Wyoming & South Dakota

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team returns to the court this weekend for a pair of matches in Vermillion, South Dakota. The Panthers will face Wyoming on Friday, Feb. 21, at 5:30 p.m. before taking on South Dakota on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 9 a.m.
UNI enters the weekend following two matches in Omaha against Creighton and Omaha.
The Panthers opened play with a 7-0 loss to Creighton at the Hanscom Tennis Center. In doubles, Yangjiaxin Li and Abbie Peterson battled in a tight 7-5 decision at the No. 2 position, while the No. 1 matchup between Andjela Raznatovic and Lucia Schuknecht went unfinished. In singles, Schuknecht pushed her second set to a 7-5 score at the top of the lineup.
On Saturday, UNI fell 6-1 to Omaha despite a strong individual performance from Kanyanut Sudsaard. After dropping the first set 6-1 at No. 6 singles, Sudsaard rallied to claim the second set tiebreaker 7-6 before edging out an 11-9 super tiebreaker to secure the Panthers' lone point of the match.
The Mavericks secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2, while the No. 3 doubles contest was left unfinished.
