Panthers fall to Creighton in Omaha

OHMAH, Neb. — The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to the Creighton University Bluejays on Friday afternoon at the Hanscom Tennis Center. With the loss, UNI moves to 1-5 overall on the season.

Creighton secured the doubles point after wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. At No. 2 doubles, Yangjiaxin Li and Abbie Peterson put up a hard fight, but dropped a 7-5 matchup against Olivia Minikel and Annika Elvestrom. Kayla Santosa and Kanyanut Sudsaard finished with a 6-0 loss to Teresa Tran and Mithila Dixit in the No. 3 slot. The No. 1 match featured Andjela Raznatovic and Lucia Schuknecht against Sophie Schwartz and Anna Paula Martinez, which went unfinished at 4-5.

In singles play, the Bluejays claimed all six courts in straight sets. At the top of the lineup, Lucia Schuknecht battled in the second set but fell to Sophie Schwartz, 6-1, 7-5. Yangjiaxin Li dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 2 singles, while Andrea Noa Galin fell 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3.

Teresa Tran defeated Kayla Santosa 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4, and Annika Elvestrom posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over Abbie Peterson at No. 5. At No. 6, Alem Cote secured a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Kanyanut Sudsaard.

Creighton improved to 5-2 overall with the win.
