UNI women’s tennis set to host weekend competition

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI women's tennis team returns home for its final two regular-season matches this weekend, hosting Murray State on Friday, April 18 at 1 p.m. and Missouri State on Saturday, April 19 at 10 a.m. at UNI tennis complex.
The Panthers (6-13, 3-3 MVC) are coming off one of their most hard-fought wins of the season, edging out Drake in a 4-3 Missouri Valley Conference thriller last weekend in Cedar Falls.
UNI secured the doubles point with strong performances from its top pairings. Darta Dalecka and Lorena Cardoso rolled to a 6-2 victory at number one doubles, while Kim Zizek and Andjela Raznatovic clinched the point with a 6-4 win in the number two spot.
In singles, the Panthers showed toughness, claiming four wins to lock down the match. Dalecka rallied for a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1, Cardoso followed with a tight 7-5, 6-7, 6-2 battle at No. 2, and Raznatovic added a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 comeback at No. 4. Abbie Peterson came up big at No. 6, winning 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 to clinch the match.
