UNI tennis edges out Drake at home

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI women's tennis battled through a hard-fought in-state rivalry, defeating Drake 4-3 in a closely contested match at home.
In doubles competition, Darta Dalecka and Lorena Cardoso set the tone with a dominant 6-2 victory over Elizabete Klavinska and Jess Caldicott. Kim Zizek and Andjela Raznatovic secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win, defeating Jessica Popiol and Shiori Takeda. At No. 3 doubles, Abbie Peterson and Lasya Mylavarapu came up just short in a competitive 7-6 match against Jana Ruzic and Nicole Lee.
In singles play, UNI captured wins on four courts to clinch the match. Dalecka would fall in a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 loss at No. 1 singles, while Cardoso followed with a tight three-set win at No. 2. Raznatovic added another strong performance at No. 4, winning 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. Peterson sealed the match for the Panthers at No. 6, coming through in the final set to win 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
